Conduru
Where the forest sets the rhythm, architecture simply reveals the territory.
The concession of the Serra do Conduru State Park, in Bahia, included in BNDES’s partnership agenda, required an integrated reading of the conservation unit as a living territory—shaped by environmental, social, cultural, and economic dynamics. The work developed by Plantar was grounded in technical diagnostics that revealed not only operational fragilities, but above all the landscape’s latent potentials: the preserved Atlantic Forest, the presence of water, the site’s symbolic strength, and its vocation for ecotourism, environmental education, and local development.
Given the complexity of Conduru—defined by its territorial scale, ecological sensitivity, and strong community identity—the project rejected standardized solutions and adopted, as a guiding premise, a systemic, light, and adaptable master plan, deeply rooted in the territory. The proposal structures the visitor experience through a guiding pathway that begins upon arrival, with a crossing over the existing lake, transforming access into a gesture of deceleration and immersion. This route gives rise to a regional welcome hub, conceived as a space for gathering, support, and cultural activation, open to both visitors and the local community.
Along the route, new attractions and places for staying are integrated into the forest with a low environmental footprint, organizing flows, enhancing the visitor experience, and strengthening a sense of belonging. Structures such as pavilions, viewpoints, and proposals for immersive lodging reinforce the landscape as a shared asset and as a living narrative of the territory.
The result is a project that understands the concession as an instrument of sustainable transformation—capable of supporting long-term conservation, expanding the park’s public role, and positioning Conduru as a national reference in ecotourism, culture, and landscape, while ensuring economic feasibility and valuing local culture. In Conduru, this approach translated into the reconciliation of two complementary territories: the Rational, expressed through technical rigor, spatial organization, and operational models; and the Sensitive, revealed through listening to communities, respecting ways of life, and carefully weaving lasting bonds between People, Territory, and Nature.
The outcome is a project that sees the concession not as an end in itself, but as a means of sustainable transformation—able to sustain conservation over time, strengthen the park’s public dimension, and position Conduru as a leading reference in ecotourism, culture, and landscape in Brazil.
