Sabina Knowledge Park: playful learning space integrating science, discovery, and interaction in a PLANTAR-designed environment.

Sabina Knowledge Park is a space designed to foster the encounter between learning, discovery, and interaction with scientific and cultural knowledge through play and sensory experience. Integrated into the broader context of Sabina – Escola Parque do Conhecimento, the project spans more than 1,000 m² and organizes a sequence of playful-educational environments that transform play into a continuous learning journey, reinforcing the idea that playing is also a way of learning and exploring. The park is structured as a territory of sequenced experiences — exploring, touching, observing, experimenting, and understanding — where each element is conceived based on operational and pedagogical principles that connect scientific content, natural history, and physical phenomena with bodily and social interaction. The proposal does not treat the playground as an isolated feature, but as an integrated learning environment capable of stimulating cognitive, motor, and social development across different age groups.

Park components — such as “The Time of the Dinosaurs,” “The Echo of Time,” “Einstein’s Space-Time,” and “The Time of Water” — are carefully positioned to create narratives of discovery, connect nature and science, and expand the intuitive perception of time, natural processes, and physical forces. The spatial organization prioritizes continuity of movement, accessibility, and interaction, shaping a public facility that integrates education, creativity, and social engagement. Materiality and architectural language adopt simple, durable solutions integrated with the existing landscape, reinforcing the concept of an educational environment that coexists with the curious gaze of children, families, and educators. As a whole, Sabina Knowledge Park proposes a new level of educational experience — an environment where scientific knowledge gains form, body, and meaning through movement, play, and direct interaction with the world.
