Campana
A territory where art, landscape, and nature come together to create new visitation experiences
Located in Brotas, in the interior of São Paulo, Parque Campana emerges as a territory where art, nature, and environmental education converge. Set within an area of approximately 52 hectares, the park occupies the former property of the Campana family and was conceived as an open-air museum dedicated to the integration of landscape, culture, and environmental regeneration.
PLANTAR’s involvement began during the initial phase of structuring the park as a visitation asset, supporting the development of a territorial strategy capable of transforming the area into a cultural and environmental destination. At this stage, guidelines were developed for visitor organization, path systems, landscape interpretation, and the definition of spatial structures capable of welcoming the public while preserving the ecological processes underway. The proposal sought to establish the park as a cultural infrastructure integrated with nature, where trails, viewpoints, and gathering areas guide the visitor’s experience and gradually reveal the landscape of the territory — a site located in the transition between the Cerrado and the Atlantic Forest, marked by ongoing ecological regeneration. In a later phase, PLANTAR contributed to the development of the architectural projects and visitor facilities, created under the artistic curatorship of Humberto Campana. The architectural ensemble was conceived as a series of experimental pavilions designed to host artworks, experiences, and installations in direct dialogue with the natural environment.
The structures explore natural and locally sourced materials — such as bamboo, plant fibers, wood, earth, and cacti — expressing an architectural language that reflects the poetic and handcrafted universe characteristic of the Estúdio Campana.
Distributed throughout the park, the pavilions and contemplative spaces form a cultural route that connects contemporary art, biodiversity, and the memory of the territory. Once completed, the park is expected to include twelve pavilions dedicated to exhibitions, workshops, and educational experiences, establishing a new cultural visitation destination in the interior of São Paulo.
By articulating territorial strategy, landscape, and architecture, the project contributes to consolidating Parque Campana as a new model of cultural and environmental asset, where art, nature, and education combine to create sensory experiences and expand awareness of the value of landscape.
